An Update from Pastor Tim:
How big is your God?
Really. Think about it.
For some reason, we have a tendency to SHRINK God, whether we realize it or not.
Last Sunday, I shared a confrontation Jesus had with a man who needed his son to be delivered from evil spirits in Mark 9:14-29. This man exposed his lack of faith in Jesus by saying, “If you can do anything, take pity on us and help us”. Jesus seemedquite annoyed and repeated the man’s statement in question form, replying, “‘IF you can?’ EVERYTHING is possible for one who believes!”
This man quickly changed his “kind of, sort of, maybe” attitude of faith to wholehearted faith, and THEN his son experienced the miracle they were seeking from God. This man GREW his God. God became bigger in his eyes of faith. THEN, the miracle happened. The sequence is the critical element.
Could it be that we don’t see miracles because we approach God with an “if you can” attitude? If so, we are keeping our God wayyyy too small. We need to grow our God.
God’s Word is 100% truth. He cannot lie. Therefore this statement, “I am the Lord, who heals you” (Exodus 15:26), must be taken as literal truth for us today. I believe it wholeheartedly.
I really want you to be in church this Sunday, as I’m sharing the story of yet another miracle of Jesus. I’m calling it, The Poolside Miracle. What does this miracle mean for us today? Do you need a miracle?
I’m more excited about this series of messages than anything I’ve preached yet at City Life Center.
Join me on Sundays at 11:00 AM.
