Two years ago this month, Marketplace Church was launched in Downtown Fort Worth at City Life Center. This Friday, January 17, it resumes following our scheduled Christmas / New Year’s break with a new theme.
This season our theme is, Marketplace Heroes of the Bible:
Disadvantaged People Who Overcame, and How We Can Beat the Odds, Too
It’s easy to look at the great heroes of the Bible and assume they had a lot going for themselves. Then, we compare ourselves, and begin to feel the odds are stacked against us.
It’s important to note, though, that all of the characters we hold in high esteem from the Bible were simply disadvantaged people, working in the marketplace, who chose to overcome.
The Bible states it well: “When I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10)
Theme Backdrop:
This season at Marketplace Church, we are using two separate books as a backdrop for our teaching.
David and Goliath:
Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants
by Malcolm Gladwell
by Dr. Caroline Leaf
Both books are available at Marketplace Church for a donation.
Make your Friday lunch plans at City Life Center.
