David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” (1 Samuel 17:45-47)
How To Become A Giant Slayer
Ever since I was a child, I loved reading the story of David and Goliath, and today it’s just as intriguing. I’ve chosen to develop an entire message around this story, that I believe will be a huge FAITH BOOST to everyone who hears it this Sunday morning, September 1. I’m calling it, How to Become a Giant Slayer, and it’s the second message in our 50 Faith Challenge series.
Interestingly, after writing the message I noticed that the majority of my points dealt with WORDS. The message deals with:
– How to handle the negative stuff other people are saying to you.
– How to deal with the intimidating words your enemy is telling you.
– How to discern what God is saying to you.
– How to be wise with what YOU are saying in the middle of your battle.
I really hope you’ll be in church this Sunday as I continue with our 50 Faith Challenge. This study has been eye opening for me.
Don’t forget to keep up with our daily faith devotions.
