From Marketplace Church to Compassionate Fort Worth
In February, 2012, we launched a special Friday Worship gathering, and we did everything possible to help it succeed. It was our sole outreach into the community from our infant, faith-filled congregation.
I remember pulling my children out of Christian school to homeschool, so they could be a part of helping Marketplace Church be a success. Many folks from City Life also gave huge amounts of time, offerings and prayers for the Marketplace Church Outreach.
But, as we turn the corner into 2015, it has become obvious that it’s time to suspend our Marketplace Church Outreach indefinitely. There are several reasons for this, and for almost a year, we have been processing and considering this shift. Now, it is our reality. That season has completed and we have entered into a new season.
Through our Marketplace Church Outreach, City Life experienced HUGE wins for God’s Kingdom and it helped get our church established.
As we move into 2015, we have a new tool to steward called, Compassionate Fort Worth. The mayor has placed this tool into the hands of some local ministers, me being one of them, and it has the potential to reach SIGNIFICANTLY more hurting people than City Life is currently reaching.
Since the beginning of City Life, we decided that we would never worship a program or a ministry tool, but worship our One God only. Tools and programs come and go. The message of Jesus is unchanging. I know some folks may be disappointed in this decision, and it was certainly not made without much prayer and discussion. Therefore,we choose to celebrate our victories and move forward in Making Jesus Known.
I’m very excited about 2015 and the new Compassionate Fort Worth movement. Please pray that it will impact MANY more lives than Marketplace Church ever did.
Be watching for updates and opportunities to serve.
