CITY LIFE CHURCH'S PUBLIC PRAYER

“Lord, none of what has been happening in our nation has caught You by surprise. You knew this day would come. You have seen the pain and the injustice.

You have seen this coming for hundreds of years. You saw it coming when You watched the greatest injustice happen to Your own Son who knew no sin, but became sin so that we could be the righteousness of God.

So, Father, I stand in a city that is so full of hurt, pain, trauma, and rage. There are so many people who don’t know what to do or where to go. There are so many things causing people to be divided. But we know that healing begins with us because the Spirit of Peace dwells in us.

Your word tells us in Proverbs, Romans, 1 Peter, 1 Thessalonians, "do not repay evil with evil.” So, forgive us for our anger and wrath, God!

We acknowledge that James 1:20 says human anger can’t bring about the righteousness you desire in the earth. WE REPENT!

May we be a peaceful people spreading the shalom of God into this earth. May the spirit of anarchy and lawlessness be held back in our city.

I also pray for hearts that are hurting and confused. May the peace of Jesus flood your life and your home.

I pray for a release a great calm over Fort Worth, and this downtown neighborhood.

At the same time, God, may we 'learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.’ (Isaiah 1:17)

May we CRAVE justice! Let justice be embedded in the heart of our church, for we are required to bring justice to all people!!

And we lean into what the scriptures say in Jeremiah 7 and Amos 5. Please convict, forgive, cleanse and keep us stay free from any religious spirit that masks, promotes, or ignores injustice.

May we be a people who LISTEN to one another, LOVE one another, and function in UNITY.

I also ask You, Lord, for an invasion of Your Holy fire, just like You invaded that upper room on the day of Pentecost. And let US be the ones who release Your POWER, LOVE, and HEALING in our city.

We choose 'to act JUSTLY and to love MERCY and to walk HUMBLY with our God.’ (Micah 6:8)

Make us zealous to defend ANY and ALL people made in your image who are wrongly or unfairly treated.

Bring us together now to be solutions to these problems that our city and nation are facing.

I also thank you, according to Romans 13, for our law enforcement. And please bring to an end all abuse of authority for the purposes of evil.

I pray according to Proverbs 13:23 for fair process and equal opportunity for all under all our laws.

According to Psalm 72, I pray for “just” leaders.
Give us government representatives who fear God with humility, love, righteousness, and who hate evil.

We also choose, according to 1 Timothy 2 and 1 Peter 2, to honor our president, our governor, and our mayor, so we CAN HAVE peaceful, quiet, dignified lives.

I pray for our brokenhearted city to receive Your LOVE. I pray for those who don’t know where to turn, to turn to You. I pray for moms and dads, and children who are confused and scared. I pray for the residents of downtown, the homeless, and the business owners who haven’t been getting much sleep and are living in fear.

May every one of our social posts, text messages, and conversations be gracious, compassionate, and seasoned with salt.

May the people of City Life Church grow in affection, sympathy, love, putting others before ourselves.

May this church have UNITY against hell, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy.

Jesus, we take our pain, our anger, our hurt and we exchange it at the cross for Your LOVE and PEACE.

In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.”
